FALL AT GCC


GRIEF YOGA: A 4-week workshops series

Grief is a powerful emotion that impacts the body, mind and spirit, sometimes leading to feelings of isolation and physical fatigue. This 4-week series is designed to offer support, guidance, and strategies, as participants work through their individual grief journey. In addition to sharing stories, yoga poses, meditation, grief education and journaling will be integrated into each of the sessions.

Please consider joining us if you have experienced the loss of a loved one as you work towards feeling more connected and whole again.

DATE AND TIME: Monday, January 12th from 5pm - 7pm

WHAT TO BRING: A journal and an open mind. Yoga mats will be provided, however feel free to bring your own if you desire.


"Mindfulness and Meditation Practice Class"

This class will include a variety of mindfulness and meditation practices that can be incorporated into any part of your day. We will explore gentle moving meditations, guided meditations, restorative/lying down meditations, breathing techniques and a seated practice. The class is perfect for beginners, those who have already taken meditation classes, as well as seasoned practitioners.

Cost for 6 session series is $90.00.

PhoenixGroupPhoenix Group

The Phoenix Group is an outpatient drug and alcohol treatment group that will cover defense mechanisms and denial, relaspe prevention, triggers, and healthy living. This is a process group that will incorporate many aspects of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). This includes Mindfulness, interpersonal skills, distress tolerance and emotional regulation.

PhoenixLawEnforcementPhoenix Group for the Law Enforcement Community

Substance abuse can be a problem for people with careers in law enforcement. Police officers have unique challenges when considering a sober life. Ths group is designed for those in law enforcement who are facing issues with alcohol and drugs and who may be concerned with privacy issues in entering a treatment program. We will discuss stress, coping mechanisms, relapse prevention, career pressures, peer pressure and more. Times are TBD and may be available day and night depending on interest. An initial evaluation will be required to be sure you are good fit for the group.

Instructor: Phil Kirschbaum, LCSW, who was first introduced to Tai Chi in 1994 at the Harvard Medical School’s Mind-Body Institute.

Classes take pace on Tuesday evenings at 8:15.
